Floral Design- “The Art of the Victorian Posy”

Thursday, May 3 from 11am-1pm

Hamburg Township Library

Come learn a bit about the Victorian Era while working with gorgeous fresh blooms. Using flowers, ribbon, wire and floral tape, each participant will select blooms based on their meanings and create a dainty bouquet. These bouquets can later be dried. The knowledge you gain during the workshop can later apply towards flowers from your own garden or the market. (Please bring a small garden pruner and a pair of scissors.) Fee: Just $8/person.

Ladies Night Out- “Painted Wine Glasses”

Thursday, May 3 from 6-8pm

Art In Bloom Studio

Make plans to get out with your girlfriends as Brighton’s restaurants and shops stay open late for Ladies Night with great deals on shopping, dining, drinks and more.

The studio will be offering wine tasting and a chance to get creative by painting your own glass to take home. Purchase the glass and I’ll supply the paints and inspiration!

With any floral or plant purchase made at Art In Bloom you will asked to select a charity (Lacasa, Love, Inc., Reaching Higher or Brighton H.S. Technology Fund) and I will donate 25%.

Volunteer Saturdays in Downtown Brighton

30 Mar

Spring is in full bloom behind the play structure!

Starting this weekend and running every other Saturday through September, volunteers will be working on downtown Brighton’s favorite family playscape and gathering spot, The Imagination Station. Volunteers will lay mulch, clean and repair the playground equipment and landscape the area. As an incentive, Main Street merchants and restauranteurs are offering specials for volunteers who show their badge. If you’re interested in helping out, follow the link above to learn more.

At Art In Bloom, volunteers receive:

A 40% discount on any fresh floral purchase made the same day.

A free drop-in art workshop for all ages from 11am-1pm on Volunteer Saturdays. Children must be accompanied by a parent.

This weekend, the art-making will focus on rabbits and flowers for spring…stop in for a peek!

Gala benefit featuring red roses

24 Mar

The Brighton District Library held a lovely benefit event last night at Oak Pointe Country Club aptly titled, “Booked for the Evening.”

Here are a few photos of the set-up. Black, white and “read” all over was the theme for the decorations. I used red Freedom roses with a very high petal count and they opened beautifully in glass cubes with a swirl of bear grass. These understated arrangements were later placed atop a small stack of hard cover books in the center of the tables. The sponsor tables were a bit more dramatic with a mound of roses atop tall vases, bound with raffia and accented with curly willow to match the decor of the main dining room at Oak Pointe.
